RACHEL HIGGINS

Rachel Higgins transforms discarded construction materials from corporate and residential edifices into sculptures often coated with a false stone used to surface building exteriors. Her work merges the sculptural object, social commentary, and architectural design and prods the viewer to consider broader political implications of how our social spaces are constructed, and for whom they are intended.  Higgins received an MFA from Hunter College in 2010 and lives and works in Los Angeles, CA.  Her works have been exhibited at Socrates Sculpture Park, Queens, NY, and Asya Geisberg Gallery, New York, NY, among other venues and have been discussed in the New York Times, ArtSlant, and ArtFCity, among other publications.
