ERIKA SOMOGYI
Erika Somogyi’s paintings on paper layer interlacing patterns, with flowers, fruits, and imagery of young women. Her compositions relax the boundaries between optical, pattern-based abstraction and naturalism. With a masterful use of watercolor, Somogyi transforms still lives and outdoor scenes into meditative and energetic visions. Somogyi (b. 1977) lives and works in Brooklyn, NY. Her works have been exhibited at Monya Rowe Gallery, Jack Hanley Gallery, and Essex Flowers, among other venues.
